Pray the City is an open sourced, distributed community of friends who are encouraging prayer by praying the Scripture over their cities, through an opt in 5 day a week, short email of a Scripture turned into a prayer.
In 2015 people all over the world prayed the Psalms over Ojai, California, a tiny city with a huge megaphone to the world's ear. As they prayed God has increased expectancy, enlarged hearts to believe Him for greater things. We have seen with our own eyes God do some amazing things. God is stirring Ojai, revealing the splendor of His Son. We know He is stirring many cities, small and large.
We have seen the unifying power of praying Scripture over a city. We want to make this available to anyone, anywhere. We have an archive of Scripture turned into prayer for the entire book of Psalms, Nehemiah and Proverbs. We are beginning to pray through the book of Psalms once again. We see multi-generational, multi-denominational, multi-ethnic, lovers of Jesus encouraging prayer with worship everywhere, in multiple venues, and multiple creative approaches. We exalt no one but Jesus and we have nothing to promote but prayer.
We believe Praying Scripture Over My City will result in the following;
1. Increase Public Prayer- Imagine going to your local coffee house, and finding people worshiping and praying. We believe there is coming a day when you will see worshiping people who pray everywhere. We'd like to encourage that specific future because we believe Jesus is worthy of public adoration.
2. Increased Congregational Prayer for the City- Imagine every church in every city praying Scripture, or finding other creative ways to pray for their city. Could God be waiting to unleash His power in fresh new ways, when we become unified in our asking? .
3. Increased Community-There are a lot of people in our community who pray. Pray the City would like to help them discover each other and become friends. We believe God builds HIs kingdom with gifts of friendship. God loves to connect His people into loving, lasting friendships that dream together His dreams.
4. Increased Mentoring Wonderfully, there are people who have been locked away in a closet with God for decades. This present generation is wanting to go deeper in prayer. Pray the City would like to encourage the mamas and the papas to wrap their arms around this next generation and love them into a deeper life of praying Scripture.
